Dance has a unique role among the performing arts in its ability to engage young people. It challenges their mind and spirit, as they discover the joy and benefits of movement, the creative process, and mental discipline of repeated and remembered movement.  The lessons learned and the skills that they hone are beneficial to them in all of their endeavors.  Dance provides young people with much needed physical activity, an energizing alternative to sedentary behaviors, a means of combating obesity, and a pathway to healthy lifestyles.  These behaviors, adopted early in life, can produce positive lifelong effects for those who embrace them.

By supporting Garth Fagan Dance School you will help:

• Provide scholarships to students in need
• Enhance instructor training and retention
• Support administrative staff and activities
• Provide community outreach programs

Scholarships: Consistent with the philosophy of the school to give back to the community, Garth Fagan Dance provides financial support to students who have a passion for dance but who could not otherwise attend class.   Scholarships are given to students based on need and/or merit.

Instructors:  The School’s dance instructors are present and former Company members as well as other dance professionals trained in Fagan Technique.  It is critical to the success of the School to provide training and adequate support to current and future instructors.

Administration: Garth Fagan Dance School runs with one director and one part-time staff.  Two studios house all classes.  Additional support is needed in order to increase the number of students and class offerings as well as other events and programs such as lecture/demonstrations held for students in Rochester and the cities in which the Company tours. 

Community Outreach:  Garth Fagan Dance School has an aggressive outreach program in an effort to provide the benefits of dance study to students not able to attend formal classes.  Garth Fagan Dance School has brought the joy of dance to hundreds of students in the community through the city of Rochester, social service agencies and the Rochester City School District.
